ABOUT US
About Southport Psychology
We are a team of clinical and counselling psychologists conveniently located in South Calgary. We strive to combine a well-rounded understanding of psychological theories and research findings with a compassionate, non-judgmental approach to every one of our clients.
We understand that our clients are coming to us with challenging problems, and possibly at a time of confusion and even desperation.
We look forward to the opportunity to support them, encourage them, equip them, and generally help them chart a clear course towards better health, increased contentment, more self-reliance, and improved relationships.
Our Mission and Guiding Values
The guiding mission of Southport Psychology is to provide an excellent standard of psychological care to every client who comes to our office. We strive to help people feel welcome, safe, understood, and supported from their very first contact with our clinic.
We believe in the fundamental worth of all people, regardless of where they are coming from, how they identify themselves, or the nature of their struggles. As a team, we believe that our work is first and foremost relational, regardless of our role in the clinic, and we aim to treat our clients, our team members, and our surrounding community with respect, kindness, and decency.
We also care deeply about helping people meet their clinical goals, and therefore are committed to providing scientifically proven treatments to our clients, supported by our own ongoing learning and professional development.
70 years of Combined Clinical Experience
All of our psychologists at Southport Psychology have completed their graduate level training at accredited institutions, and have over 70 years of combined clinical experience. Each of our therapists has been trained to provide general psychological services, but has also developed individual areas of interest and expertise. Together, we are pleased to provide assessment and treatment for problems such as depression, all anxiety disorders (panic attacks, generalized anxiety, social anxiety, phobias, PTSD, and OCD), substance addictions and behavioural addictions, work stress and return-to-work issues, grief and loss, childhood trauma, health problems (including chronic conditions, pain, and rehabilitation issues) and marital/relationship problems. Specific assessments are also provided (e.g., ADHD, psycho-educational assessment, career planning, and personality). We provide services to both adolescents and adults, including seniors.
